In 2010, I was served papers to appear in court. When I opened the summons, I was stunned to find that my own parents were the petitioners in the case. This began a two year legal battle, an experience that changed my life. It changed how I viewed the world, families, my parents and myself. This was an uncommon battle, one that I did not want to fight, but I chose to in order to preserve my own family.
